Marathon in Medieval Armour
I’m running 42.2km in 27kg of steel plate armour.
Every penny raised goes to the Against Malaria Foundation.
The Challenge Awaits
How This Actually Happened
1. The Comment
“I could probably do that.” Nobody asked. Nobody needed to.
2. The Point of No Return
Tells enough people to make backing out worse than doing it. Checks the Guinness requirements. Decides it’s doable. Files the paperwork. Briefly questions being a middle child. Too late.
3. The Training
Arthur’s Seat. 7am. Saturdays. 27kg of steel. Discovers that a weight vest and rigid plate armour are very different things. The armour does not care.
4. The Doubters
“No offence, I don’t think you can do it.” “I don’t care if you do it or not, just stop talking about it.” “You’re such an attention seeker.” “I don’t care if you’re raising money, this is the women’s bathroom.”
5. 24th May 2026
Full armour. 42.2km. Edinburgh Marathon. Every step for the Against Malaria Foundation. I’m doing this either way. You might as well make it count.
Training in the Steel

100% Goes to Against Malaria Foundation
Every 60 seconds, a child under five dies of malaria. It is preventable. A bed net costs £2.50, protects a family for 3–4 years, and is one of the most cost-effective ways to save a life ever found.
Every pound here goes directly to the Against Malaria Foundation. Nothing taken for expenses. Nothing taken for admin.

The Record
This is a sanctioned Guinness World Record attempt. Here’s what I’m up against:
